Nelly Korda Starts Defending Gold At Paris Olympics

The reigning gold medal champion, Nelly Korda, has kicked off her journey to defend her Olympic title at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After her first round at Le Golf National, she’s sitting in the clubhouse with an even-par score of 72.

Things didn’t start off smoothly for Korda. She struggled with three bogeys in the first seven holes but managed to find her rhythm with a trio of birdies that helped her finish the round at even par. She’s currently tied for 13th place along with several other golfers.

Among those competing, fellow American Rose Zhang is also in the mix with an even-par score. The standout of the day was Lilia Vu, who played a fantastic round, putting herself in a four-way tie for third place, just five strokes behind the current leader, Celine Boutier, who shot a phenomenal 7-under.

Thinking ahead to the weekend, Korda will be looking to improve her game in the second round. She expressed some challenges in her opening round, noting, “It’s never easy when you make four three-putts out there today.” However, she managed to maintain her spirits and is eager to build on her performance.

In today’s competitive scene, South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai is in a strong position, holding the silver medal spot at four-under through the first round. The excitement is building as the tournament continues, and all eyes will be on these top golfers as they battle it out for the Olympic medals.
