New Bob Marley Biopic ‘One Love’ Releases Sneak Peek of Studio Scene
In a new clip from the upcoming biopic ‘Bob Marley: One Love,’ viewers are given a behind-the-scenes look at the recording studio with Kingsley Ben-Adir portraying Marley and his band, The Wailers. The exclusive footage, shared by Billboard, showcases the ensemble recording their renowned 1977 hit ‘Jamming.’ Ben-Adir, known for his roles in ‘The OA’ and ‘Peaky Blinders,’ masterfully embodies Marley’s persona and energy as he lip-syncs to the iconic track.
In a departure from modern recording techniques, the clip shows Marley & The Wailers all performing in the same room, capturing the magic and chemistry of their live sound. As the music plays, the scene also highlights the band engaging in a friendly game of foosball between takes, providing a glimpse into their camaraderie.
‘Jamming’ was released as part of Marley & The Wailers’ 1977 album ‘Exodus’ and has since become one of their signature songs. The album reached No. 20 on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at No. 3 on the UK Albums chart. The timeless track was also included in the 1984 greatest-hits compilation ‘Legend,’ which spent a staggering 818 weeks on the Billboard 200, making it the second-longest-charting album in history, just behind Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon.’ ‘Legend’ has also dominated the Reggae Albums chart, holding the No. 1 spot for a record-breaking 210 weeks.
The lyrics of ‘Jamming’ notably include the line, ‘No bullet can stop us now.’ The song was released after Marley survived an attempted assassination during a home invasion in 1976. Despite the attack and subsequent health issues, Marley continued to be a powerful force in the music industry until his untimely death from cancer at the age of 36 in 1981.
‘Bob Marley: One Love,’ produced in collaboration with the Marley family, is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024. The biopic aims to pay tribute to Marley’s enduring legacy and shed light on the man behind the music. Fans and music enthusiasts can watch the exclusive studio clip below.
