HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — A documentary titled Searching For Stars Hollow is in production to mark the 25th anniversary of the beloved TV series Gilmore Girls.
Slated for release this October, the film from Ink On Paper Studios aims to explore the show’s impact on American cultural history. It will feature interviews with cast members and behind-the-scenes insights from crew, writers, and directors.
Among those interviewed are Kelly Bishop, who played Emily Gilmore, Jared Padalecki, Chad Michael Murray, Keiko Agena, Sally Struthers, and many others. Director Meghna Balakumar stated, “The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight.”
The documentary has already amassed over 100 hours of footage and will continue filming more interviews in the coming months. Balakumar added, “We’re presenting the most complete, full, and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy.”
Jim Demonakos, the film’s producer, emphasized that Searching For Stars Hollow will share how Gilmore Girls resonated across generations, creating a devoted fan community through its unique blend of humor and heart.
Gilmore Girls, which aired from 2000 to 2007, followed the lives of single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The series, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, starred Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, among others.
The documentary aims to give fans a deeper understanding of the show’s cultural significance. Although a release date hasn’t been disclosed, the film is set to launch a Kickstarter campaign for further funding.
