Hong Kong High Society Luxury Drama Series

HONG KONG — PCCW Media and SK Global have partnered to produce a new high-budget drama series titled “The Season,” set against the glamorous backdrop of Hong Kong. Created by Yalun Tu, known for his work on NCIS: Hawaii and Wu Assassins, the series promises an intriguing exploration of wealth and deceit.

The show, which boasts a cast of notable regional talent, is directed by Chilean filmmaker Marialy Rivas, recognized for her previous work on The Jetty. “The Season” features a gripping logline: “Set against the opulence and striking contrasts of Hong Kong, the series follows a privileged group of friends gathering for a summer of sun-drenched luxury. What starts as a glamorous escape soon spirals into a web of deception, power struggles, and life-altering consequences.”

The ensemble cast includes Jessie Mei Li from Shadow and Bone, three-time Golden Horse winner Karena Lam, and rising stars Justin Chien from The Brothers Sun and Yvonne Chapman from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Other notable cast members are Celina Jade from Wolf Warrior 2, Toby Stephens from Percy Jackson And The Olympians, Japanese model and singer Kōki, and Hong Kong actors Anson Lo, Marf Yau, Lyman Heung, Thor Lok, and Mishy Lee.

“We believe that ‘The Season’ is a story that will connect with audiences everywhere through the characters’ personal journeys and conflicts,” said Janice Lee, CEO of Viu and managing director of PCCW Media Group. “We hope that the show, set against the backdrop of Hong Kong, will give an added layer of energy and vibrancy to the series and provide a window into Hong Kong’s unique culture, spirit, and iconic scenes that is authentic.”

The executive production team also includes Agatha Lo for PCCW Media, along with Chloe Dan, Matt Aragachi, and Dylan Tarason for SK Global. Aaron Shershow joins the production team as well.

The Season will be available for streaming on Viu across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa, with plans for additional distribution channels in the future.
