2026 America The Beautiful Pass

WASHINGTON – The Department of the Interior has announced major changes to national park access, set to launch on January 1, 2026. The updates include a fully digital format for America the Beautiful passes and a new pricing structure benefiting U.S. residents.

These changes mark the most significant modernization of national park access in decades. Under the new system, various America the Beautiful passes, such as the Annual, Military, Senior, and 4th Grade passes, will now be available digitally through Recreation.gov. Visitors can instantly purchase, store, and use their passes on mobile devices.

“President Trump’s leadership always puts American families first,” said Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum. “These policies ensure that U.S. taxpayers continue to enjoy affordable access, while international visitors contribute their fair share to maintaining our parks.”

The new fee structure sets the Annual Pass at $80 for U.S. residents and $250 for nonresidents. Nonresidents without an annual pass will pay an additional $100 per person at 11 of the busiest national parks. This includes popular sites like Yellowstone and Grand Canyon.

In addition to the new pricing, the Department announced ten patriotic fee-free days in 2026 for U.S. citizens and residents. Significant days include President’s Day and Independence Day weekend, July 3-5.

The Interior Department is also expanding access for motorcyclists. Starting in 2026, two motorcycles will be covered under every America the Beautiful pass, making park entry easier for motorcycle riders and families.

These revenue changes aim to directly support national parks, providing funds for upgrades to visitor facilities and maintenance throughout the system. For more information on these changes, visit the Department of the Interior’s website.
