New ‘Valorant’ Agent Waylay Unveils Game-Changing Double Dash Ability

LOS ANGELES, CA — Riot Games has introduced Waylay, the latest agent in the popular tactical shooter Valorant, along with her unique abilities. Scheduled for release on March 5, 2025, Waylay is poised to alter the competitive landscape with her innovative double dash ability, dubbed Light Speed.
As the 28th agent to join Valorant, Waylay maintains a more straightforward design compared to her recent counterparts, but this is expected to be compensated by her remarkable movement capabilities. According to early gameplay clips, Waylay’s Light Speed ability allows her to execute two dashes in quick succession, with the first also propelling her upward, enhancing her mobility on the battlefield.
“We haven’t had a ‘space taking duelist’ since Valorant’s launch,” said June Cuervo, a lead designer behind Waylay’s character. “This subclass of duelist that only Jett and Raze occupy has been an essential part of team compositions at all levels of play, and we wanted to add something fresh to this gameplay space.”
Waylay’s dual dashes appear to exceed the speed of Jett’s signature move, covering large distances rapidly and introducing new tactical possibilities for both casual and professional players. Her additional abilities expand on her role as a duelist, designed for high mobility and offensive play.
In terms of utility, Waylay offers a significant new effect known as hindering. This ability can negatively impact various factors such as fire rate, recoil recovery, equip time, reload speed, movement speed, and jump speed for nearby players, providing her team a strategic advantage during engagements.
“When designing Waylay’s dash I wanted to capture the creativity of Raze’s satchel movement and the speed of Jett’s dash,” Cuervo continued. “Waylay’s tool for creating safety for herself, Refract, allows her to take risks and play off of her teammates’ utility with confidence after dashing. These two things together allow Waylay to act as your entry duelist while not throwing away her life.”
Players can also expect the launch to bring a series of new skins from the Cyrax collection, featuring options for popular weapons such as the Vandal, Ghost, Guardian, and Stinger, alongside melee weapon enhancements.
With Waylay set to join the roster soon, players and fans are eager to see how her introduction will influence gameplay strategies and team dynamics in the ever-evolving world of Valorant.
