NHL Media Personality Paul Bissonnette Involved in Brawl at Scottsdale Restaurant
Paul Bissonnette, a former NHL player and current co-host of the popular podcast ‘Spittin' Chiclets,’ was involved in a dramatic brawl at a restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona. The incident occurred on Sunday at Houston's restaurant, where Bissonnette, who played in 202 NHL games for the Phoenix Coyotes and the Pittsburgh Penguins, intervened to defend the restaurant staff from a group of intoxicated patrons.
According to Bissonnette’s account on ‘Spittin’ Chiclets,’ a group of about nine individuals were causing problems for the staff, including the manager and assistant manager. After witnessing the harassment for about 15 seconds, Bissonnette stepped in, grabbing one of the men’s arms and warning him to stop. This action prompted one of the men to start throwing punches, leading to a broader altercation involving several individuals.
The fight escalated and moved through the restaurant and into the parking lot, where Bissonnette was eventually taken down and kicked by his assailants. Despite being outnumbered, Bissonnette managed to get back up and ran into a nearby CVS to escape the attackers. Authorities were alerted during the confrontation and were able to detain five of the individuals involved when they arrived on the scene.
Bissonnette estimated the entire ordeal lasted around three and a half minutes and was taken to the hospital afterward but was not seriously injured. He expressed a sense of responsibility for intervening, given his frequent visits to the restaurant and his positive interactions with the staff.
