Nigeria Cng Conversion

The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a new initiative aimed at facilitating the conversion of vehicles from petrol to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The initiative is designed to be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fuel sources. This development was communicated in a statement released by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Wednesday.

The NOA, in its announcement, highlighted an online portal, through which Nigerians interested in transitioning their vehicles to CNG can apply and avail themselves of flexible payment plans. “Switching to Compressed Natural Gas is now more accessible than ever,” read the statement. The agency further elaborated on the financial arrangements, indicating that the payment for the conversion can be spread over monthly installments.

The statement emphasized the ease of the application process, characterizing it as straightforward with a quick approval system. The government assures applicants of ample support throughout the conversion procedure to enhance the user experience.

According to the NOA, adopting CNG offers multiple advantages including cost savings, significant environmental benefits, extended engine life, and enhanced vehicle safety. It also pointed out the reliability of CNG as a proven technology with a strong safety record.

Interested individuals are encouraged to visit the website ‘gocng.ng’ to begin the application process. The NOA’s initiative aims to reduce the nation’s dependency on petrol, which aligns with broader environmental and economic objectives.

Further details about the government’s initiative indicate a parallel project aimed at providing CNG-powered tricycles, which targets economic empowerment, particularly among the youth. Michael Oluwagbemi, the Project Director and CEO of the Presidential CNG Initiative (P-CNGi), noted that such moves would improve the economic conditions within the country by lessening the reliance on petrol.
