Nine promising hockey players from Alberta recently had their names called during the WHL Prospects Draft. Leading the group was Landon DuPont from Calgary, who was selected first overall by the Everett Silvertips. DuPont was granted Exceptional Player Status, making him eligible to play full-time in the WHL starting in the upcoming season. This achievement is similar to that of Connor Bedard, who received this status in 2020, making DuPont only the second player in WHL history to earn this honor.

In addition to DuPont, two other Albertans went in the top five of the draft. Aden Bouchard from Airdrie was selected third overall by the Tri-City Americans, followed closely by Ben Harvey from Edmonton, who was chosen fourth by the Prince Albert Raiders.

The list of Albertans selected in the first round also included players like Hayden, McIntyre, and Ruptash, showcasing the talent from the province.

A total of nine Albertan players made history by being part of the prestigious WHL Prospects Draft, with each one looking forward to their promising future in hockey.
