Nine Injured in Airbnb Party Shooting in Bath Township
BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred at a large party held at an Airbnb on Top O Hill Drive, injuring nine people early Sunday morning.
According to Bath Police Chief Vito Sinopoli, the shooting took place around midnight. The victims, all juveniles, were attending a party that had been promoted on social media. Some individuals self-transported to nearby hospitals, but their current conditions remain unknown.
Police arrived at a chaotic scene, where first responders provided life-saving aid before victims were transported by ambulance. Chief Sinopoli reported that no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
“This is a community — violence is not commonplace here,” Sinopoli said. “We do our very best to ensure the protection of our residents and business owners. When an incident like this occurs, we’re very upset about it. We’re going to do our very best to find out who’s responsible for this and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”
Bath Township has regulations prohibiting Airbnb rentals, raising concerns over the supervision of gatherings within private residences. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is assisting local authorities in this ongoing investigation.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Bath Township police department’s detective bureau at 330-666-3736.
