Nintendo has unveiled a new interactive piece of hardware known as the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, designed to bring the charm of its beloved gaming worlds into everyday life. Scheduled for release in early 2025, Alarmo is priced at $99.99. However, Nintendo Switch Online members in the U.S. and Canada can purchase it immediately via the My Nintendo Store.

Alarmo features unique motion sensor technology, allowing users to snooze the alarm with a mere wave or stop it altogether by simply getting out of bed. With 35 scenes inspired by popular Nintendo titles, including “Super Mario Odyssey,” “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” “Splatoon 3,” “Pikmin 4,” and “Ring Fit Adventure,” owners can choose their wake-up experience from a plethora of Nintendo-themed sounds and visuals.

In its promotional material, Nintendo asks, “Ever wish that you could wake up in one of the playful worlds from Nintendo? Well, it’s time to stop dreaming!” indicating the thematic experience that the Alarmo aims to provide. Users can also review sleep movement records and choose between different alarm intensities, such as Steady or Gentle Modes. These options allow for a customizable waking experience that gradually intensifies or maintains a consistent level, depending on the selected setting.

Nintendo has emphasized the aesthetic and functional appeal in its design. The clock’s display, although not round or a touchscreen, automatically adjusts its brightness according to the room’s ambient lighting. With a large dial and control buttons on top, navigating through menus or settings is user-friendly. The Alarmo even recognizes motion detection across twin to king-sized beds, enhancing adaptability in various bedroom setups.

Furthermore, to invigorate nighttime routines, Alarmo offers “sleepy sounds,” promoting a peaceful transition into sleep with calming music. Nintendo plans to update the device with additional sound and scene downloads, available through their online subscription service. Future updates may include themes from other Nintendo franchises, such as “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” and “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

Nintendo has stated that the Alarmo does not transmit personal data, allaying privacy concerns by clarifying that the device “does not communicate any information” to the company. This announcement coincides with ongoing anticipation around forthcoming Nintendo innovations, including hinted hardware prospectively termed “Switch 2.”
