Nisha Dahiya's Heartbreak At The Paris Olympics

In an emotional turn of events at the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya was left devastated after losing her quarter-final match in the women’s freestyle wrestling 68kg category.

Nisha faced North Korea’s Sol Gum Pak and unfortunately dislocated her finger during the match. Despite being in pain, she was leading 8-1 in the second round when she signaled for the contest to be paused so she could receive medical attention.

After a quick treatment, she bravely decided to continue. However, just moments later, she had to call the physio back to help with discomfort in her shoulder. Even though she pushed through the pain, the struggle took its toll on her performance.

As the match neared its end, Pak managed to turn the tables on Nisha, scoring a takedown with only 10 seconds on the clock. The final score was a heartbreaking 10-8 in favor of Pak, leading Nisha to break down in tears after the match.

Her coaches had to help her out of the arena as she dealt with the disappointment. There’s a glimmer of hope for Nisha though; she could still vie for a medal through the repechage round, depending on whether Pak reaches the final by winning her semi-final.

This injury isn’t the first for Indian wrestlers at the Olympics. It brings back memories of Vinesh Phogat, who faced a similar crisis during the Rio Olympics when she injured her knee in her quarter-final bout.
