Nitin Gadkari Discusses Innovative Wildlife Corridor on National Highway
The Indian Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, recently featured in an episode of ‘Sunday Brunch’ with Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani. The discussion, which took place at the minister’s residence in Delhi, focused on the integration of infrastructure and nature, highlighting India’s first dedicated wildlife corridor along the Nagpur-Jabalpur section of National Highway 44.
As Gadkari elaborated, the corridor includes a unique bypass through the Pench National Park, constructed to facilitate both vehicular traffic and wildlife movement. The bypass allows vehicles to travel through the forest while providing safe passage for tigers and other animals across the highway. This innovative development blends infrastructure with ecological preservation, offering travelers a chance to glimpse wildlife in their natural habitat without compromising safety. Gadkari has urged people to visit and experience this harmonious blend of nature and modernity.
In related discussions about road and transport development, Gadkari mentioned significant improvements in highway construction speeds. The minister noted that the rate of highway construction has accelerated from 12 kilometers per day to an impressive 38 kilometers per day, with aspirations to reach 60 kilometers a day. This achievement, according to Gadkari, is largely due to the efficiency and dedication of engineers and contractors involved in these projects.
The minister’s vision encompasses further advancements to India’s roadways and transportation systems, which are rapidly evolving. These developments are not only crucial for improving connectivity but also for enhancing economic growth through better logistics and travel convenience.
Gadkari’s efforts reflect the dynamic changes in Indian infrastructure development, juxtaposing the challenges of modernization with the need for sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.
