Noah Schnapp Reflects on Final Season of Stranger Things
LOS ANGELES, CA — As the final season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things approaches, Noah Schnapp is feeling a mix of excitement and nostalgia. The 21-year-old actor, who has portrayed Will Byers since 2016, is preparing to say goodbye to a character that has been a significant part of his life for nearly a decade.
Schnapp said he was “just playing myself” in early seasons, sharing that he started as a “shy, timid little boy.” Over the years, both he and Will have experienced substantial growth, navigating personal and professional challenges. As Schnapp prepares to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania next year, he expressed the complexity of closing these two chapters simultaneously.
“I’m graduating in a few months at the same time as the finale is coming out,” Schnapp told The Hollywood Reporter. “All these chapters of my childhood are closing. It’s equally terrifying and exciting.”
The final season will be released in three parts, starting with the first four episodes on November 26. Schnapp hinted at major developments for his character, stating, “Will has been through so much, and those trials have shaped him into a strong person.”
Reflecting on his journey, Schnapp noted, “I’ve found a lot more confidence as an actor.” He revealed he feels more collaborative with directors and is now comfortable expressing his perspective on his role. “When you’re surrounded by so many talented people, you try to become a sponge,” he said.
As for behind-the-scenes memories, Schnapp reminisced about celebrating his co-stars’ birthdays and spending time outside of work with them, saying these moments have strengthened their relationships. He emphasized the importance of being present through the process, calling it “the most fun.”
Schnapp also looks forward to how fans will react to the final season. “I’ve been holding it in for so long,” he expressed. “It’s so touching and empowering to inspire people to be themselves.”
The pressure surrounding the final season was palpable for Schnapp, yet he remains excited to reunite with his castmates. “I felt extremely nervous walking into the expectations we had to fulfill,” he shared, underscoring the unique bond formed over the years of working together.
“With this final season,” Schnapp stated, “the stakes are the highest they’ve ever been.” Fans can anticipate a deeply emotional experience as the series concludes the arcs of beloved characters. As Schnapp said, “Anything can happen. You get to see all those knots finally get closed.”
