For the first time in its history, Northern Arizona University‘s (NAU) Lumberjack Marching Band will perform at the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band was selected to represent the state of Arizona, showcasing its pride, spirit, and traditions to a national audience.

The Lumberjack Marching Band has been a symbol of musical excellence and school spirit for over 90 years. As ambassadors of NAU, they serve students, alumni, and the community through various performances. Their participation in the Macy’s Parade marks a significant milestone in their history of representing the university beyond state lines.

“This is an incredible honor for both the students and the university,” said John Doe, the band’s director. “We are looking forward to sharing our enthusiasm and celebrating the cultural heritage of Arizona on such a prestigious platform.”

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the most famous parades in the United States, watched by millions of viewers both in-person and on television. Participation in the parade is highly competitive, with numerous bands from across the country vying for the opportunity to perform.

In preparation for the performance, the band will engage in several months of rigorous practice and fundraising efforts to support their travel and expenses associated with the event. NAU officials have expressed immense pride in their band’s selection, emphasizing the visibility and recognition it brings to the university and the state.
