Northwestern’s Truck or Treat Brings Halloween Fun to Families
EVANSTON, Illinois – Local families celebrated Halloween at Northwestern University‘s Truck or Treat event, held yesterday at the construction site of the new Ryan Field. This annual event featured children in costumes alongside real construction vehicles, giving the festivities a fun twist.
For the second consecutive year, Northwestern teamed up with its construction partners, the Central Street Consortium, to host the community-oriented event. Spanning from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Truck or Treat showcased various activities, including face painting, yard games, and even an appearance by Willie the Wildcat, Northwestern’s mascot.
Parets also offered chances to win prizes for the best costumes in categories like best construction worker and best Evanston pride. Over twenty local businesses contributed to the event by providing candy, costumes, and opportunities for children to engage with Evanston’s iconic purple fire truck.
“Events like Truck or Treat reflect our commitment to fostering community relations,” said a representative from Northwestern’s Office for Neighborhood and Community Relations. They emphasized the importance of connecting the university with local families through fun and safe activities.
As the new Ryan Field prepares to open next year, Truck or Treat serves as an example of the future family-friendly events scheduled to take place at the site. For updates on upcoming community events, locals are encouraged to subscribe to the university’s newsletter.
