NYSC Deploys Over 2,600 Corps Members to Rural Areas in Kaduna
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has assigned 2,615 Batch B (Stream II) corps members to rural areas in Kaduna State following the completion of their 21-day orientation course. The deployment was officially announced during the closing ceremony held at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp at Government College, Kaduna, on Tuesday.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, who through his representative, Hajiya Rabi Salizu, the state Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, extended congratulations to the corps members. Addressing the gathering, the governor emphasized the importance of dedication and professionalism as the corps members embark on their primary assignments.
The governor stated, “I urge you to accept your posting in good faith, settle down quickly, and respect the customs and traditions of your host communities.” He reassured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to providing the essential support needed for a productive and fulfilling service year.
NYSC Kaduna State Coordinator, Hassan Mahmud Taura, also addressed the corps members, praising them for their impressive performance during the orientation course. “I encourage you to engage in Community Development Service projects that positively impact your host communities and build on the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development training you received,” Taura advised.
Taura reminded the corps members to avoid social vices such as corruption, nepotism, tribalism, and religious bigotry. He stressed that their service extends beyond personal growth and contributes significantly to national development.
Additionally, at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the same batch at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Director General of NYSC, urged the corps members to embrace their postings and commit to nation-building. He encouraged them to make meaningful impacts in their communities and be exemplary ambassadors for their families.
General Ahmed underscored the importance of accepting postings in good faith, resisting the urge to seek reposting, and approaching the service year with humility and selflessness. He assured corps members of their security and welfare, advising them to avoid risky adventurers.
The director general also highlighted that the next phase of the service journey will involve primary assignments, community development services, and will culminate in the passing out parade in approximately ten months.
