Obaseki, Okpebholo’s Transition Panels Meet to Discuss Handover Ahead of November 12
Ahead of the November 12, 2024, handover, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has initiated a crucial step towards a smooth transition of power by calling on the state’s governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to establish a transition committee. This committee will interface with Obaseki’s existing transition team to ensure a seamless handover of governance responsibilities.
The first meeting between the two transition panels is scheduled for October 14, 2024, as proposed by the Secretary to the State Government, Joseph Eboigbe, in a letter dated October 10, 2024. This meeting aims to facilitate effective collaboration and the sharing of vital information necessary for the continuity of governance.
Senator Monday Okpebholo, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, emerged as the governor-elect following the September 21 governorship election in Edo State. However, the election result is currently being challenged by the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo.
Obaseki had earlier in July inaugurated a 20-member transition committee, chaired by Joseph Eboigbe, to oversee the transition process. The Obaseki administration has expressed its commitment to providing Okpebholo with the necessary support and resources to ensure a successful and efficient transition.
The transition process is designed to set the foundation for a successful administration that meets the expectations of the constituents, emphasizing the importance of a smooth and effective collaboration between the outgoing and incoming administrations.
