Oblivion Remastered Game Modding

City, State – In a fast-paced turn of events, the modding community has sprung into action less than six hours after the release of Oblivion Remastered on April 22, 2025. The remaster, published by Bethesda, allows players to revisit the iconic world of Cyrodiil with enhanced graphics, but it has also sparked an immediate wave of user-generated mods.

The first notable mod, titled Ahegao Short Sword, was uploaded to Nexus Mods by user Bub200 just three hours after the game became available. At 11:18 a.m. EDT, players could purchase the game, and by 2:27 p.m. EDT, Bub200 secured a place in modding history with his lighthearted addition.

“It’s fascinating to see how the community reacts so quickly,” said a modder going by the name KelpyJesus. “Not everyone loves these types of mods, but they’re part of the culture.” The user referred to Bub200’s creation as something they appreciated but were simultaneously baffled by.

Despite Bethesda’s earlier claims that Oblivion Remastered would not support modding, players quickly found indications that mods could function within the game. One Reddit user shared that the game files used are compatible with those from the original version, suggesting that modding is indeed possible. This has led modders to dive into the game’s new code to explore what can be adjusted or improved.

“From what I can tell, this remaster uses a combination of Unreal Engine 5 graphics and the original game logic,” stated a Redditor who asked to remain anonymous. “So it’s likely that a fresh wave of mods will soon follow as more people tinker with it.”

Bub200’s initial offering, which featured some light hentai art on a short sword texture, has drawn mixed reactions. Reviews on Nexus Mods range from praise to mild disgust, with user Thebrokenbucket expressing enthusiasm for the direction of modding for the game. “This could kick off a new era of modding for Oblivion,” they wrote.

Following its release, modding for Oblivion Remastered is still in its early stages. However, past success stories of mods for Skyrim and previous games in the Elder Scrolls series hint that more elaborate projects could be on the horizon. As modding communities rally to explore the possibilities within the remaster, many anticipate a vibrant and evolving catalog of user-generated content.

Chris Livingston, a writer for PC Gamer, confirmed after testing that at least one mod does function correctly in the remaster, suggesting that the potential for expansive modding remains strong. For the time being, though, the most popular mods seem to lean toward humorous or absurd themes, continuing a long-standing tradition within gaming culture.
