Ohio Man Wins $1 Million Lottery Prize on Scratch-Off Ticket

CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio — An unidentified western Ohio man has struck it rich after winning $1 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket this week, according to the Ohio Lottery. The fortunate player purchased the winning ticket at the In N Out Smoke Shop and Carryout located at 5020 Gender Road in Canal Winchester.
His reaction to the life-changing win was one of disbelief. “I was like, ‘Oh, my goodness’,” he said in a statement released by the lottery. To confirm his luck, he scanned the ticket again, and after realizing the amount he had won, he exclaimed, “Wow.”
The winner opted for the cash option of $500,000, which, after federal and state tax withholdings, will yield him approximately $360,000. The ticket belonged to the VIP Millions series, a $50 scratch-off game that offers a top prize of $40,000 annually for 25 years.
The Ohio Lottery also noted that this is the third major VIP Millions winner within a short time, following another $1 million win in Austintown earlier this month and a similar win in Canton back in January.
As of March 24, there are still 42 top prizes remaining in the VIP Millions game, providing hope for other players eagerly purchasing tickets.
Though the winner has yet to determine exactly how he will spend his newfound wealth, he mentioned that he has always dreamed of starting a business, hinting at plans to invest in his future.
The Ohio Lottery continues to see a surge in ticket sales as players chase big prizes, resulting in substantial payouts that change lives overnight.
