Oilers Seek Redemption Against Stars After Tough Loss to Blues
DALLAS, TX – The Edmonton Oilers look to respond in the Lone Star State as they face the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. The game kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET and can be viewed on ESPN+.
After suffering a disappointing 3-2 defeat to the St. Louis Blues on Monday, a game where the Oilers held a 2-0 lead, they are now aiming to get back on track. The Blues scored three unanswered goals, with Pius Suter netting the game-winner just over a minute from the end of regulation.
Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm reflected on the loss, stating, “I thought we had a good start… We got on our heels a little bit when they got their first one, leading them to score another.” The Oilers have now lost three straight games when holding a third-period lead.
Despite the recent struggles, the Oilers can count on standout performances from Connor McDavid, who achieved his 1,100th career point during the loss with two assists. McDavid has recorded points in his last 11 games against the Stars, both in regular season and playoffs.
The Stars, under the guidance of former Oilers assistant coach Glen Gulutzan, are having a strong season, currently sitting at 6-3-3 in the standings. They are seeking to avenge their previous back-to-back losses to the Oilers in the Western Conference Final.
However, the Stars are facing challenges with injuries to key players such as Jake Oettinger, Matt Duchene, Roope Hintz, and Jamie Benn. Gulutzan mentioned, “It’s going to be a fun game… We always want to beat our friends,” emphasizing the competitive atmosphere of the match.
The Oilers will welcome back defenseman Alec Regula, who returns from an upper-body injury. Stuart Skinner will take the starting position in goal against the Stars. He is set to help guide the team as they look to end a tough stretch of games.
With both teams hungry for a crucial victory, the match promises to be an intense contest that could shape the early season standings.
