Okemos High School Evacuation Threat

OKEMOS, MI – Okemos High School was evacuated Monday afternoon after officials received a call about a possible threat. Students and staff were led away from the building as Meridian Township Police and other responders arrived to investigate the situation.

The school, located at 2800 Jolly Road, ensured the safety of its students. “All students are currently safe with staff at the stadium,” the district reported. They asked families to avoid coming to the school during this time.

Officials reassured parents and guardians that they would continue to communicate as more information about the situation became available. This incident follows a tragic event the previous day in Grand Blanc Township, where four people were killed and several others were injured.

This is not the first time Okemos High School has faced similar situations. In May, police responded to a possible threat at the school but found no danger after a thorough investigation. The school was placed under lockdown for about an hour during that incident.

In February 2023, authorities also responded to a false report of shots fired at Okemos High School, part of a distressing pattern affecting multiple schools on that day.

Okemos is a community in Ingham County, located roughly five miles east of Lansing.
