Oklahoma Severe Weather Forecast

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Oklahomans are preparing for a weekend of severe weather, with conditions expected to deteriorate from Saturday through Monday.

Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane from KOCO 5 stated that the prime timeframe for severe weather on Saturday will be between 4 p.m. and midnight. The majority of the state is under a slight risk for severe storms, particularly central and southwest Oklahoma, where tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds are possible.

“Storms that form tomorrow could be concentrated in isolated areas, but the risk for severe conditions remains significant,” Lane said.

On Saturday, hail ranging from golf ball to baseball size and wind gusts of up to 80 mph are forecasted. The anticipated storm development may continue into Sunday, particularly in the Oklahoma City metro area as storms move eastward from the west late in the day.

The severe weather threat increases on Sunday evening, especially between 3 p.m. and midnight. The Oklahoma City metro could experience strong storms by 8 p.m., which may include rotating cells that pose tornado risks.

Residents are advised to download the KOCO 5 app for real-time weather alerts and updates. Meteorologists will continue to monitor the situation closely as conditions evolve.
