Omaha Faces Light Snowfall, Rain Expected Later This Week
OMAHA, Neb. — A quick-moving clipper system brought light snowfall to the Omaha area early Thursday morning, with the best chance for accumulation near Interstate 70. Locally, up to a half-inch of snow was possible, creating slick conditions on untreated surfaces.
Temperatures started at 25 degrees and were expected to rise to 33 degrees by the afternoon. Overcast skies and a breezy west wind of 10 to 20 mph persisted throughout the day. The snowfall, which was spotty and inconsistent, was most likely before 9 a.m., with isolated snow showers possible in southwest Ohio later in the day.
“Untreated surfaces could become slick due to cold road temperatures,” said a local meteorologist. “While this shouldn’t pose a major problem for most commuters, it’s still a good idea to check travel times before heading to work.”
Looking ahead, Friday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny and milder conditions, with a high of 39 degrees—typical for this time of year. Rain is expected to arrive Friday night into Saturday morning, with northern areas potentially experiencing a brief wintry mix before transitioning to rain showers. Saturday’s high will reach around 40 degrees.
Early next week, another blast of cold air is expected, with highs on Monday and Tuesday only reaching the mid-teens. Residents are advised to prepare for fluctuating weather conditions as winter continues to impact the region.
