Us Open Tennis Prize Money Announcement

NEW YORK, Aug. 6, 2025 – The U.S. Open has announced a record prize pool of $90 million for this year’s tournament, marking a 20% increase from 2024’s $75 million. Each singles champion will earn $5 million, which is up from $3.6 million last year.

Organizers revealed the details on Wednesday, highlighting that the overall purse is the largest in tennis history. In addition to the singles champions, finalists will receive $2.5 million, semifinalists $1.26 million, and quarterfinalists $660,000.

This year also introduces prize money for mixed doubles teams, with $1 million awarded to the winning pair. This new format aims to attract top singles players to participate in mixed doubles events, creating a more competitive atmosphere.

The increase in prize money follows calls from top ATP and WTA players demanding better pay and equitable distribution at Grand Slam tournaments. U.S. Open officials noted a “deliberate focus” on enhancing awards across all tournament rounds.

“We have made measurable investments to ensure larger payouts for all players while promoting an accessible and rewarding environment,” said a representative in the official release.

Qualifying rounds for the U.S. Open start on August 18, with main singles matches commencing on August 24 and concluding on September 7. The tournament will also see mixed doubles matches held on August 19 and 20.

Partnerships among top players are anticipated, including pairings like Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu. Despite excitement, defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori criticized the new mixed doubles format as a “pseudo-exhibition.”

The U.S. Tennis Association believes this new format will not only enhance the mixed doubles experience but will also “inspire more people to engage with the sport.”

With a growing fan base, the U.S. Open has already drawn over one million attendees. As the tournament approaches, excitement builds with lofty expectations for both players and spectators alike.
