What’s Open and Closed on Veterans Day 2024: Post Office Hours and More
Veterans Day, observed on Monday, November 11, 2024, will see various closures and adjustments in services across the United States. One of the key services affected is the U.S. Postal Service. Post offices across the country will be closed on Veterans Day, and mail delivery will be paused for the day.
Customers will not receive mail on November 11, but post offices will reopen and mail delivery will resume as normal on Tuesday, November 12. Despite the USPS closure, other mail carriers such as FedEx and UPS will operate with some modifications. FedEx Office locations will be open, although most FedEx shipping services will not be available, except for FedEx Home Delivery and FedEx Custom Critical. UPS Store locations will operate normal hours, and UPS pickup and delivery services will be available, though SurePost and Mail Innovations deliveries will require an additional business day due to the holiday.
In addition to post office closures, other federal institutions, including non-essential government agencies, DMVs, public schools, and local libraries, will also be closed on Veterans Day. However, national parks will be open, and entrance fees will be waived for all visitors on the holiday.
Many retail stores, such as Costco, Target, Walmart, and Kroger, will remain open, although it is advisable to check with local stores for any alternate hours. Banks, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo, will be closed, but customers can still use ATMs or online banking services.
