Oregon Sees COVID-19 Surge in Wastewater
The amount of COVID-19 found in Oregon‘s wastewater has shot up this summer, exceeding levels seen in other western states and across the country recently.
This rise in COVID-19 has been ongoing in Oregon since late April and is largely driven by the omicron variants, according to Dr. Paul Cieslak, who serves as the medical director for communicable diseases and immunization at the Oregon Health Authority.
Health officials are keeping a close eye on these spikes as they may indicate that the virus is spreading more easily within the community.
