Over 250,000 Yoto Mini Speakers Recalled for Fire Risk
Yoto Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of more than 250,000 Yoto Mini speakers due to potential burn and fire hazards, as announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The Yoto Mini speakers, designed for children aged 3 to 12, utilize lithium-ion batteries to play audiobooks, music, podcasts, and radio content through Yoto cards.
The recall stems from the risk of the lithium-ion battery overheating and catching fire, although no injuries have been reported thus far.
According to the CPSC, the affected speakers were sold between November 2021 and April 2024 both in retail stores and online, including websites like Amazon.com and Target.com.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled Yoto Mini speakers are advised to discontinue use immediately and contact Yoto for a free replacement smart charging cable.
The free Yoto Mini Smart Cable provided by the company is designed to charge the battery to a safe level, reducing the risk of overheating.
To obtain the replacement cable, consumers need to log in to the Yoto website using their speaker’s serial number, which can be found on the bottom of the device.
Yoto has also instructed users to cut their existing Yoto Mini USB charging cable and submit a photo of the cut cord for further assistance.
For additional support or inquiries, customers can reach out to Yoto via email at [email protected] or by calling the Yoto Mini Smart Cable helpline at 1-844-370-0426 during business hours.
