Palm Springs Celebrates Pride, Economic Growth, and Upcoming Film Festival Honors
Palm Springs is abuzz with a variety of significant events and announcements. The city recently concluded its 38th annual Pride festival, which featured a diverse lineup of entertainment, art exhibits, and community gatherings. The event, held over the weekend, promoted inclusivity and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community. The Pride flag was unfurled at a hospital tower, marking the start of the celebrations, with Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein highlighting its symbolism of unity, love, and acceptance.
In addition to the Pride celebrations, Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein delivered the State of the City address at the Palm Springs Art Museum. During his speech, he highlighted the city’s robust economic performance and outlined future projects, including a revamped convention center and airport. These initiatives are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and economic growth.
Looking ahead, the Palm Springs Film Festival has announced its honorees for 2025. Mikey Madison, star of Sean Baker’s film “Anora,” will receive the Breakthrough Performance Award at the festival. Madison’s performance in “Anora,” which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, has garnered widespread acclaim. She will be honored at the Palm Springs Convention Center on January 3, 2025. The film festival, which runs from January 3 to 13, will also recognize other notable figures in the film industry, including Colman Domingo and the Netflix series “Emilia PĂ©rez“.
