Palm Springs Juvenile Stabbed During VillageFest; Suspects Still At Large

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — A juvenile is recovering from a non-life-threatening stab wound sustained during the VillageFest event on Thursday evening. The stabbing occurred around 6:30 PM near the Kimpton Rowan Hotel, prompting a heavy police presence in downtown Palm Springs.
Witnesses reported a chaotic scene as emergency vehicles responded and crime scene tape was established around the hotel entrance. A spokesperson from the Palm Springs Police Department confirmed that the incident stemmed from a fight among juveniles that took place behind the hotel.
One of the involved individuals was stabbed during the altercation, but authorities stated that the injury is not considered life-threatening. The suspects responsible for the stabbing remain at large, raising concerns about safety in the area.
Shay Lawson from News Channel 3, who was present at the scene, interviewed Rebecca Urias, a witness who called 911 during the incident. “When I was on the phone with the operator, that’s when I just heard one of them say, put the knife away,” Urias recounted. “One of the juveniles walked up the stairs and he screamed, holding his leg. I saw the blood gushing down his leg.”
This incident is not isolated; past events involving violence among teens have been reported in downtown Palm Springs. In 2024, a similar fight led to one person pulling a gun and firing shots, injuring at least two individuals. The ongoing violence highlights a growing concern about safety at public events.
As authorities continue to investigate this latest incident, the community and law enforcement remain on alert for any further developments. The Palm Springs Police Department has encouraged anyone with information about the suspects to come forward.
