Rhamondre Stevenson Running Back Injury

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots will be without starting running back Rhamondre Stevenson for their home game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday due to a toe injury, head coach Mike Vrabel announced.

Stevenson, who has been the team’s leading rusher this season with 83 carries for 279 yards and three touchdowns, has missed a week of practice. His absence raises concerns about the team’s running game, especially against a Falcons defense known for its high blitz rate.

Vrabel indicated that the Patriots have limited options, with only second-round draft pick TreVeyon Henderson and former practice-squad player Terrell Jennings remaining on the roster. The Patriots signed three additional running backs to their practice squad this week, and one may be elevated in time for the game.

The Patriots rank first in pass protection with a critical performance from Stevenson, something that will be missed against a Falcons team allowing the fewest passing yards per game this season.

Stevenson played a crucial role last week, contributing 49 scrimmage yards on 15 touches against the Cleveland Browns. He has participated in 62% of the offensive snaps, while Henderson has filled in at 32%.

Meanwhile, other injuries were noticed during practice; wide receiver Stefon Diggs (ankle), defensive tackle Christian Barmore (not injury-related), and center Garrett Bradbury (toe) were limited. Right tackle Morgan Moses missed practice for a rest day. The team will monitor Stevenson’s health as game day approaches.

As the team prepares for Sunday’s game, the status of their top running back remains uncertain. Vrabel has yet to provide specifics on the severity of Stevenson’s injury.
