Pedestrian Injuries Prompt Road Closures in Utica and Rochester

UTICA, N.Y. — A car-pedestrian collision caused significant road closures on the North/South Arterial Friday evening. Emergency services responded shortly after 7 p.m. near the intersection of Rt. 12N and Noyes Street.

According to local police, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and was subsequently transported to Wynn Hospital. His current medical condition has not been disclosed.

The northbound lane from Oswego to Court streets is expected to remain closed as reconstruction teams conduct an investigation into the accident. Authorities are advising drivers to select alternate routes to avoid delays.

In a separate incident, Rochester, Minn., experienced a pedestrian injury on Tuesday evening. At approximately 6:30 p.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of 4th Avenue NW and 7th Street NW. Details regarding the victim’s condition and whether they were transported to a medical facility are still under investigation.

Meanwhile, in James City County, Va., police report that a man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Tuesday at around 7:40 p.m. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Kenneth Jackson Jr., was initially unaccounted for after the collision. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman also sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the same incident and was taken to Riverside Doctors Hospital Williamsburg for treatment. The collision, which had been mistaken for a deer by a passerby at first, is under investigation. Local law enforcement has seized the vehicle involved for further examination.

These events highlight the ongoing risks pedestrians face in urban environments and the importance of traffic safety. Authorities continue to review these incidents closely as investigations unfold.
