Pennsylvania Presidential Election 2024

Pennsylvania has once again become a pivotal state in the 2024 presidential election, with both Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump heavily campaigning in the Keystone State. The state’s 19 electoral college votes are seen as crucial in determining the outcome of the election.

Both candidates made numerous stops in Pennsylvania, engaging in various campaign activities to sway voters. Harris participated in a door-knocking event in Reading, where she met with a family and suggested staging a photo opportunity to capture the moment. This event was criticized by Trump’s campaign, which labeled it as a staged photo op.

Trump, who won Pennsylvania in 2016 but lost it to Joe Biden in 2020, also made significant efforts in the state. He dodged an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler and even worked behind the counter at a McDonald's to counter Harris’s claim that she had worked at the fast food chain. Trump delivered his closing argument in Pittsburgh, emphasizing the need for strong leadership and criticizing the current administration.

The presidential debate between Harris and Trump was held in Philadelphia, a city with over one million registered voters. Harris also hosted a bipartisan event with Liz Cheney, who predicted that millions of moderate Republicans would support Harris at the ballot box.

In addition to the presidential race, Pennsylvania is also witnessing a closely contested U.S. Senate race between incumbent Democrat Bob Casey and Republican challenger David McCormick, who is backed by Trump. Other key races include bids for Attorney General, Auditor General, Treasurer, and several State Senate and House seats.

Pennsylvania’s importance is underscored by its history as a swing state, with many pollsters predicting razor-thin margins or virtual ties between the presidential candidates. The state’s electoral votes are tied with Nebraska for the sixth most in the country, making it a top prize in the campaign.
