Pennsylvania Polls: Tight Race Between Harris and Trump as Election Day Unfolds
As Election Day arrives, Pennsylvania remains a crucial battleground state in the 2024 presidential election, with the contest between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump being exceptionally close. According to the latest polls, the race in Pennsylvania is nearly tied, reflecting the broader national trend of a highly competitive election.
The New York Times poll published on Monday showed Donald Trump with 49% of the state’s polling average, while Kamala Harris had 48%. This narrow margin underscores the significance of Pennsylvania in the electoral map, as even a small polling error could sway the outcome.
A poll from the Florida Atlantic University Political Communication and Public Opinion Research Lab (PolCom Lab) and MainStreet Research indicated that Harris leads Trump by two points among likely voters in Pennsylvania, with Harris at 49% and Trump at 47%. Harris holds a six-point advantage among women, while Trump has a slight edge among men. The race is also closely divided among different age groups, with Harris leading by a small margin among voters aged 18-49 and the race being extremely close among those 50 and older.
In addition to the presidential race, Pennsylvania is also hosting important state and local elections. The U.S. Senate race in the state shows Democratic incumbent Sen. Bob Casey with a five-point lead over Republican David McCormick, highlighting the deep partisan divides and the potential impact of split voting in these closely watched states.
Polls in Pennsylvania opened on Tuesday, November 5, at 7 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. ET. Voters are advised to check their assigned polling locations, as they may have changed since the last election. First-time voters or those voting at a new polling place must bring an acceptable form of identification, which includes various photo and non-photo IDs.
