Philadelphia Union Match At Subaru Park

CHESTER, Pennsylvania — The Philadelphia Union‘s final home match of the season against New York City FC on Saturday night is set to be a crucial event. A win will secure the 2025 Supporters' Shield, allowing the team to celebrate the trophy with fans at Subaru Park.

The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Following Inter Miami‘s recent 5-3 defeat to the Chicago Fire, the Union now need just one win to clinch the Shield with a total of 66 points. Under Head Coach Bradley Carnell, who joined the team in the offseason, the Union has achieved 19 wins, seven losses, and six ties this season, giving them the top spot in the league.

The Union notched their last victory with a dominant 6-0 win over D.C. United on the road, marking their 13th clean sheet of the year. Forward Milan Iloski mentioned the importance of this momentum as they head towards the playoffs. “You want to go into playoffs playing well and getting a big win like that,” Iloski said. “We still have two regular-season matches left and we’re still in the shield race.”

However, the team faces personnel challenges as Quinn Sullivan has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his ACL. Coach Carnell also announced that Jeremy Rafanello will miss Saturday’s game due to injury, posing additional difficulties ahead of the must-win match.

Both teams historically face off fiercely, and this weekend’s showdown is expected to be no different, as the Union look to secure a playoff position and the Supporters’ Shield. Tickets for the event are available for those who cannot attend.

The Union II also plays their final regular-season match at Subaru Park against New York City FC II on Sunday, vying for more points before heading into the playoffs. After securing a comeback win against Toronto FC II, Union II looks to capitalize on their form.

“There’s only 6 more points to play for, and 3 very important ones on Saturday in front of our home crowd,” Carnell emphasized. The stakes are high for all teams involved as the season concludes.
