Pickup Truck Crashes Into Manchester Pawn Shop, Owner Uninjured
A pickup truck crashed into a Manchester pawn shop Friday night, causing significant damage but leaving the driver unharmed. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. at Hidden Treasure Thrift and Discount on 575 South Willow Street.
According to witnesses, the truck’s owner accidentally accelerated into the building while attempting to reverse. “I honestly thought the building was coming down. It felt like an earthquake,” said Aaron Sarette, a nearby business owner. “When I came out, the owner of the truck was getting out, and I obviously made sure he was OK.”
The store owner, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, told reporters he was unharmed and that no one was inside the shop at the time of the crash. The impact shattered glass and left a gaping hole in the storefront, prompting emergency crews to respond quickly.
Neighboring businesses also felt the impact. Employees at a nearby Indian restaurant reported hearing a loud crash and seeing dishes and glasses shake uncontrollably. “It was a chaotic scene,” said one witness. “The damage is extensive, but thankfully, no one was hurt.”
Cleanup efforts began shortly after the crash, with crews boarding up the damaged storefront and removing the truck from the scene. The store owner expressed relief that no one was injured but lamented the damage to his business, which he described as his “life’s work.” He is now awaiting an insurance assessment to determine the next steps.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported and that the incident appears to have been an accident. The Manchester Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
