Plane Crash at Brethren Village Injures Five in Lancaster County

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Emergency crews responded Sunday afternoon to a plane crash at the Brethren Village Retirement Community, near the Lancaster Airport. The incident, which occurred around 3:20 p.m., has left multiple injuries.
According to Lancaster County-Wide Communications, the small airplane crashed in a parking lot at Brethren Village, igniting several vehicles. Multiple medics and ambulances were dispatched to the scene as firefighters worked to contain the flames.
The nature and extent of the injuries have not been disclosed, but emergency responders confirmed that at least five individuals were hurt in the incident. Staff members at Brethren Village were instructed to remain indoors while crews assessed the situation.
“I saw the plane flying low,” said Brian Pipkin, a resident of Lititz who witnessed the crash. “It veered left and then nosedived. It happened so quickly.” Pipkin, who was driving on Airport Road at the time, immediately called 911 after witnessing the aircraft’s descent.
At the scene, Pipkin reported seeing two people lying on the ground nearby, marked with black residue. He could not determine if they had been ejected from the aircraft.
Authorities are on the scene and continue to assess the crash site. Nearby Route 501 has been closed in both directions due to the emergency response activities and ongoing investigations.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available from state and local officials.
