Pokémon GO Introduces Limited-Time Kurta Pikachu for Festival of Colors

NEW DELHI, India — Pokémon GO is celebrating the Festival of Colors 2025 with the debut of Kurta Pikachu, a limited-time costumed variant of the beloved Pokémon. The event runs from March 13 to March 17, 2025, providing trainers worldwide a unique opportunity to capture this special creature.
Available starting at 10 AM IST on March 13, Kurta Pikachu can be found through one-star raids or trading until 8 PM IST on March 17. Notably, the shiny version of this Pokémon is particularly rare, with odds of approximately 1 in 512 encounters, making it a prized catch for dedicated trainers.
To successfully obtain a Shiny Kurta Pikachu, trainers should maximize their encounters by participating in multiple raids. Kurta Pikachu will appear as a one-star raid boss, with specifics differing slightly based on geographical location. In India, players can engage in battles at Gyms that host these raids, while those outside India must rely on remote raids accessed through raid apps or by teaming up with friends from India.
The Combat Power (CP) stats for Kurta Pikachu are as follows: it has a raid boss CP of 3,277 and a catch CP of 536 at level 20, with a potential maximum of 670 during rainy weather conditions.
In addition to raiding, trainers can also obtain Kurta Pikachu through trading. This method requires a friend who has caught the Pokémon to trade it; however, it will count as a special trade, necessitating a higher amount of Stardust and can only be completed once per day.
Trainers seeking the shiny variant must be persistent. “If you’re determined to get one, participate in multiple raids or trade with a lucky friend who has found one,” encourages an unnamed community expert.
The limited-time nature of Kurta Pikachu makes this event particularly urgent for trainers. As the festival concludes, those interested must start their raiding and trading efforts immediately to secure Kurta Pikachu before it disappears once more.
