Napa Police Arrest Apartment Break In Suspect

NAPA, Calif. (WCAX) – A 20-year-old man was arrested after allegedly breaking into a woman’s apartment, demanding money, and threatening to return. The incident occurred Wednesday morning on Jefferson Street in Napa.

According to Napa Police, the woman came home to find a broken window in her apartment on the 700 block of Jefferson Street. Upon entering her bedroom, she encountered Jacob Nicholas Rodriguez, who allegedly demanded money and instructed her not to call the police.

After warning her that he would return for the money, Rodriguez fled the scene. The woman reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the apartment but were unable to locate him initially.

Approximately an hour later, at 9:11 a.m., police received additional reports of a man matching Rodriguez’s description seen walking through a parking lot brandishing a large knife. Officers located him standing outside an apartment building.

Rodriguez reportedly refused to comply with officer commands and retreated into an apartment, barricading himself inside. Police established a perimeter around the location and deployed two crisis negotiators who engaged with him.

After negotiating for some time, Rodriguez eventually exited the apartment and was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported, although there were children present when he entered the apartment.

Rodriguez was booked into Napa County Jail on multiple charges, including felony robbery, misdemeanor dissuading a witness, vandalism, and resisting arrest. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
