Rensselaer, NY — Police are investigating a home invasion that occurred on Tuesday at the Red Mill Apartments located on High Street. The Rensselaer City Police Department reported receiving an incident call that prompted their inquiry into the matter.
According to Police Chief Warren Famigletti, there were initial rumors circulating on social media suggesting that a shooting had taken place during the invasion. However, upon their investigation, authorities found no evidence to support claims of a gun being used.
Despite the lack of gunfire, police believe that the victims were deliberately targeted. They indicated that obtaining information from witnesses proved challenging during their response. “Details are limited,” Famigletti noted, emphasizing the scarcity of cooperation from those questioned at the scene.
Officers discovered at least one individual with injuries, although the specific nature of those injuries has not been disclosed. As the investigation continues, police urge anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Rensselaer Police Detective Division at (518) 462-7451. Authorities are particularly interested in reports of anything ‘out of the ordinary’ that may have been observed around and during the time of the incident.
