Toronto Pearson Airport Police Shooting Incident

TORONTO, Canada — A man was shot by police at Toronto Pearson International Airport‘s Terminal 1 early Thursday morning, leading to a significant emergency response and disruptions at the country’s busiest airport.

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. when Peel Regional Police confirmed that an adult man was shot by an officer. A spokesperson noted that first responders arrived at 6:56 a.m. and the man’s condition remains unknown.

Authorities emphasized that this is an isolated incident with no known threats to public safety. “There are no ongoing concerns for the public,” Peel Regional Police stated on social media.

Images from the scene show a heavy police presence, with numerous vehicles stationed outside the terminal. Passengers were seen navigating to the terminal while others faced delays, as police directed traffic away from the departures area. Highway 409 leading to Terminal 1 has been closed due to the investigation, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority was contacted by media but has not provided additional updates. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and is dispatching investigators to look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, as is standard protocol for incidents involving police.

As of now, there has been no confirmation whether flights have been affected, but travelers should expect delays. The 900 Airport Express bus has also been rerouted through Terminal 3 because of police activity.

This is a developing story, and more details will follow as they become available.
