Political Turmoil In Himachal Pradesh Assembly: 15 Bjp Mlas Expelled For Misconduct

In a recent turn of events in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania has suspended 15 BJP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, for their alleged involvement in shouting slogans and misconduct within the Speaker’s chamber.

The other suspended MLAs alongside Thakur are Vipin Singh Parmar, Randheer Sharma, Lokender Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Hans Raj, Janak Raj, Balbir Verma, Trilok Jamwal, Surender Shori, Deep Raj, Puran Thakur, Inder Singh Gandhi, Dileep Thakur, and Inder Singh Gandhi.

This suspension follows the BJP’s recent victory in the state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat, where Harsh Mahajan emerged victorious over Congress stalwart Abhishek Manu Singhvi due to cross-voting, causing a setback for the ruling Congress party with a comfortable majority in the assembly.

Earlier today, members of the BJP Legislative Party, led by Jai Ram Thakur, held discussions with Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. Thakur, in a statement post the meeting, mentioned the events that unfolded in the Assembly, highlighting the denial of a division of votes during the financial bill session and the subsequent adjournments.

Claiming that the Congress government has lost the ‘moral right to stay in power’, Thakur emphasized the need for a shift in the state’s political landscape post the Rajya Sabha elections.
