Lisa Marie Presley Memoir

In a posthumously published memoir titled “From Here to the Great Unknown,” Lisa Marie Presley recounts traumatic experiences from her childhood, including allegations of sexual abuse by Michael Edwards, a former boyfriend of her mother, Priscilla Presley. The memoir, released on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, provides a raw and candid recollection of the events she states occurred when she was a child.

According to Presley, the alleged abuse began when she was around ten years old. “The first time Edwards came into my room in the middle of the night, drunk, kneeling, was years before. I think I was ten,” Presley writes in her memoir. She describes waking up to find him beside her bed, engaging in inappropriate behaviour. Presley further details these encounters and recalls Edwards’ justification of his actions by stating it was normal in Europe to teach kids in such a manner.

The memoir details the moment Presley informed her mother of the incidents, leading to Edwards offering an apology that was later described as insincere and dismissive. Presley recalls that Edwards often attributed his actions to alcohol consumption or claimed that she had been flirting with him.

Edwards, now 80, is known for his roles in the 1981 film “Mommie Dearest” and 1991’s “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” He has not publicly acknowledged these allegations, and no comment has been received from his representatives. The Independent has reached out to Priscilla Presley’s representatives for further statements.

The memoir also touches upon other personal tragedies in Presley’s life, including the suicide of her son, Benjamin Keough, in 2020. Presley reveals her struggle with his loss and describes keeping his body on dry ice as she grappled with decisions about his burial. “From Here to the Great Unknown” was completed by Presley’s eldest daughter after her death.

The deeply personal nature of Presley’s memoir has sparked conversations about the lasting impact of childhood trauma and the complexities of familial relationships. As the public digests the revelations, the book is expected to engage readers in broader discussions on these sensitive issues.
