Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $398 Million Amid Saturday Night Draw

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Powerball jackpot reached an estimated $398 million for the drawing on Monday, March 17, 2025, as no ticket matched all six numbers on Saturday night, March 15.
The winning numbers from Saturday’s draw were 12, 28, 33, 36, 54, and the Powerball was 5, with a Power Play of 3x. This rollover marks another increase in the jackpot, as players prepare for another chance at the grand prize.
The cash option for the jackpot now stands at $185.7 million, according to lottery officials. Tickets cost $2 each, and players may choose to add the Power Play feature for an additional $1, which multiplies non-jackpot winnings.
Although the jackpot was not won, there were significant prizes awarded. A ticket purchased in Texas matched all five white ball numbers plus the Power Play, earning the holder a total of $2 million. Another ticket purchased in Massachusetts matched five numbers for a $1 million prize.
Lottery enthusiasts should keep in mind that the likelihood of winning the jackpot remains slim, with odds of 1 in 292.2 million. However, players can win smaller prizes for matching as little as one number if it is the Powerball.
The Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. The deadline for purchasing tickets varies by state, with New Jersey‘s cut-off at 9:59 p.m.
The excitement of the lottery is amplified by holidays, and with St. Patrick’s Day approaching, many players hope to get lucky this week. Over the years, the Powerball has created numerous millionaires, but it also serves as a reminder of responsible gaming.
As of now, the Powerball remains a tempting opportunity for many; however, prospective players should gamble responsibly and be mindful of their spending.
For players winning significant amounts, different states have various regulations regarding anonymity. In New Jersey, winners can remain anonymous, while in Florida, winners’ names and hometowns may be publicly disclosed.
As the drawing approaches, excitement builds, and players are reminded to check their tickets against the winning numbers after the drawing concludes. The next Powerball drawing will take place at 10:59 p.m. ET on Monday evening.
