Powerball Jackpot Soars to $303 Million After No Winners
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Powerball jackpot climbed to an estimated $303 million after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing. The winning numbers were 8, 41, 52, 53, 58, with a Powerball of 7 and a Power Play multiplier of 3X. The cash option stands at $132.8 million.
The last Powerball jackpot was won on December 7, when a single ticket in New York claimed a $256 million prize. Since then, the jackpot has continued to grow, with players across the nation vying for the chance to become the next multimillionaire.
Powerball drawings are held three times a week—every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets cost $2 each, with an additional $1 option to add the Power Play, which multiplies non-jackpot winnings. Players can also opt for Double Play for another $1, offering a second chance to win up to $10 million.
To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls (1-69) and the red Powerball (1-26). The odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. However, even matching just the Powerball number earns a $4 prize.
Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot also remains unclaimed, rising to an estimated $113 million with a cash option of $49.2 million. The winning numbers for Tuesday night’s drawing were 4, 14, 35, 49, 62, with a Mega Ball of 6 and a Megaplier of 3X.
Powerball and Mega Millions have created some of the largest lottery jackpots in U.S. history. The record Powerball jackpot of $2.04 billion was won in California on November 7, 2022. Mega Millions holds the second-largest jackpot at $1.765 billion, claimed in California on October 11, 2023.
Lottery officials remind players to check their tickets carefully, as prizes must be claimed within the designated time frame for each state. The next Powerball drawing will take place on Saturday, January 18.
