Prime Minister Modi Flags Off 10 New Vande Bharat Trains, Expanding Rail Network

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated 10 new Vande Bharat trains, marking a significant expansion of the Indian Railways network. The virtual flagging off ceremony took place at Visakhapatnam railway station, where the newly launched Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Vande Bharat express garnered much attention.

The event saw the presence of dignitaries such as Padma Shri awardees S.V. Adinarayana and Kutikuppala Surya Rao, along with Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad and officials from APTDC and Waltair Division.

Delhi-Katra, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Varanasi, Mysuru-Chennai, and Kasaragod–Thiruvananthapuram are among the six routes that will now feature two Vande Bharat trains, providing enhanced connectivity across states.

Following the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the growth of the nation’s railway infrastructure over the past decade, stating that the day’s events serve as a testament to the country’s progress and future endeavors.

The Vande Bharat Express, introduced by Indian Railways in 2019, has undergone significant enhancements, offering passengers a comfortable and modern travel experience. Plans for a sleeper version of the train are currently in the works, with a prototype being developed by BEML in Bengaluru under the guidance of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Furthermore, the inauguration of the Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Vande Bharat express signifies a milestone in the continuous efforts to expand and improve India’s rail network, with a focus on providing efficient and advanced services to passengers.
