Prime Minister Narendra Modi Attends Wedding in Guruvayur
Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guruvayur on Wednesday morning to attend the wedding of actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi’s daughter, Bhagya Suresh. The wedding ceremony took place at 8.45 am, and PM Modi clicked photographs with the happy couple and family before leaving.
Actors Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, and Khushbu were also present at the ceremony, adding star power to the event.
Prior to attending the wedding, PM Modi offered prayers at the Lord Krishna temple in Guruvayur. He was dressed in a traditional Kerala-style white dhothi and shawl and also performed a thulabharam at the temple.
This visit to Guruvayur had an impact on the marriage ceremonies scheduled for January 17, with the temple authorities modifying the timings. Some of the ceremonies were solemnized between 5 am and 6 am, while the remaining were scheduled after 9.30 am. Temporary restrictions were also imposed from 6 am to 9 am in light of the Prime Minister’s visit.
As a result, educational institutions including professional colleges in Guruvayur, Kandanassery, and Choondika declared a holiday. However, this exemption does not apply to public examinations.
After the wedding, PM Modi visited the Triprayar Sree Rama Swami Temple in Thrissur district. He landed at a specially arranged helipad and proceeded to the temple accompanied by a convoy. At the temple, a group of 21 students studying Veda at Brahmaswom Madom recited Vedic hymns and a bhajan based on Ramayana. Modi’s visit to Triprayar holds significance in light of the upcoming Ram Temple consecration in Ayodhya on January 22.
Later in the day, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Cochin Shipyard Ltd international vessel repairing center and a new dry dock at Kochi’s Willingdon Island. He will also address a party meeting of around 6,000 ‘shakti kendras’ in-charges at Marine Drive. PM Modi is expected to return to Delhi in the evening.
