Prime Video France New Series Announcement 2024

Prime Video France has announced an ambitious lineup of new original and co-produced series, showcasing a variety of genres including comedy, thrillers, and more. Among the notable additions are “Culte – 2be3,” “Glamsquad,” “Carjarkers,” and the innovative comedy format “Liars Club.” This initiative underscores the streaming service’s commitment to investing in French creativity, according to Prime Video France executives.

“Glamsquad,” helmed by French filmmaker Rebecca Zlotowski, is particularly anticipated. Known for her feature film “Other Peopleā€™s Children,” which competed at the Venice Film Festival in 2022, Zlotowski expands into television with this series. Co-written with Olivier Nicklaus, “Glamsquad” chronicles the vibrant lives of four charismatic beauty experts in Paris. “We love Rebecca and she came to us with this idea which we found fantastic,” noted the head of Amazon MGM Studios France.

Yael Langmann leads the creation of “2Be3,” a series about the iconic 1990s French boy band, reflecting on the cultural phenomenon the group represented. Prime Video is also behind “Culte,” an anthology series focusing on French pop culture milestones, premiering with an episode about the origins of French reality TV.

The French film industry is further represented in Prime Video’s lineup with “Carjarkers,” featuring ZoĆ© Marchal and Franck Gastambide. Directed by Kamel Guemra, this action-thriller is produced by Gaumont. Furthermore, the comedy “Un mariage sans fin,” featuring Tarek Boudali and Camille Rowe, offers a fantastical romantic narrative set in Marrakech.

In the unscripted segment, “Liars Club” emerges as a new game show produced in collaboration with Endemol France. This comedic format will feature duos of comedians who attempt to outwit each other with outrageous stories. “With our unscripted shows, we want to be like a laboratory of French creativity for the rest of the world,” explained Dubois.

Continuing its co-production efforts, Prime Video France is involved with high-profile projects like the action series “Dark Hearts,” set in the backdrop of the war against ISIS, and “Escort Boys,” a series following young men who become escorts in a scenic French town. Both series have been warmly received, with “Dark Hearts” having achieved significant viewership upon its release.

Prime Video has also acquired “Marked Men,” a film adaptation directed by Nick Cassavetes, set to broaden the platform’s cinematic offerings. These developments highlight Prime Video France’s strategic collaborations and its ongoing initiative to nurture French creative talent across multiple entertainment genres.
