Prison Break Streaming Rankings

In the second week of its release on Netflix, the series ‘Prison Break‘ has soared to prominence by securing the top position in Nielsen’s streaming rankings.

The former Fox series, which is also available on Hulu, was added to Netflix on July 29. In the week of August 5-11, it remarkably increased its viewing time from 758 million to 1.6 billion minutes, marking an impressive surge in viewership.

Likewise, Netflix’s ‘The Umbrella Academy‘, whose final season premiered on August 8, ranked as the leading original series that week with 1.46 billion minutes of viewing. However, it saw a significant decline from its previous peak of 2.45 billion minutes at the time of its season three premiere in June 2022.

During this period, ‘Prison Break’ was the only original title to enter the overall top 10 streaming list; a notable occurrence, as no original titles had made the list in the preceding week, influenced in part by the ongoing Olympics coverage.

Bluey from Disney+ recorded over 1 billion viewing minutes, accounting for 1.03 billion. Concurrently, ‘House of the Dragon’ reached 935 million minutes following the conclusion of its second season, ending a streak of over seven weeks above 1 billion minutes.

Additionally, CBS’s ‘Fire Country‘ made its first appearance on the charts, amassing 765 million minutes between its two available seasons on Netflix and Paramount+.

This week also witnessed a historic downsizing of Nielsen’s rankings, as the long-standing series ‘NCIS‘ exited the top 10 for the first time since December 2020 after an impressive 188-week run.
