Prosecutors Seek No Bail for Man Who Barricaded Himself in Honolulu
HONOLULU, Hawaii — Prosecutors have requested to hold a 49-year-old man without bail after he barricaded himself in a home on Herbert Street for 15 hours. The standoff began on Tuesday, Oct. 21, and ended in the early hours of Oct. 22.
The man, identified as Morris, surrendered around midnight and exited the residence with a woman believed to be his wife. The incident escalated when Morris allegedly shot a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) task force officer in the hand during an attempt to execute a search warrant.
Morris’s court appearance has been postponed twice as he required medical treatment for injuries related to the incident. Currently, he remains in custody under the supervision of the U.S. Marshals Service.
A detention hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, where a judge will decide on his bail status.
